Bayern Munich Star is being urged to join Manchester United

Former Bayern Munich and German international sweeper Lothar Matthaus is telling Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger that he should seriously consider any offer Manchester United puts on the table as it would breathe new life into what is fast becoming a stagnation point in the 31-year-olds career.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal knows Schweinsteiger well from his stint at the German champs and is on the lookout to find a player who can not only compete, but also replace Michael Carrick after seeing how the club struggled during his absence last season.

‘Schweinsteiger needs a coach that will play him according to his strengths and Van Gaal will surely do that,’ said Matthaus.

‘If there’s an offer from Manchester, Bastian should give it serious consideration.

‘He’s never been the fastest player in the world and, as he turns 31 soon, that will not improve but he is certainly intelligent enough and has the necessary vision to be the central link between defence and offensive midfield.’
