It would appear an almost certainty that Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech will be joining Arsenal this summer after bookmakers Betfair suspended all betting on the 33-year-old becoming a Gunner.
The Chelsea No.2 was not prepared to remain at Stamford Bridge this summer as a back-up keeper after having put in 11 years of service, and made it known that a move to another London club would be his preferred choice so as not to disrupt his family life.
‘We have suspended betting on Petr Cech to sign for Arsenal after a flood of bets came in on the north London club and punters were willing to back Arsenal at odds as short as 1/10,’ said Betfair football trader Michael Bowers.
‘United were initially 10/11 favourites to sign him, but it looks like the 33-year-old is set to stay in London, where Arsenal will be hoping he can boost their title chances next season.’
