Atletico President says he has no intention of selling Diego Costa to either Arsenal or Chelsea

In a move designed either to warn off or increase the price of his biggest asset Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo is adamant he will not be forced to sell their prized asset according to reports in Tuesday’s Daily Express newspaper.

Arsenal and Chelsea are both known to be in the hunt for a new striker this summer with Atletico’s Diego Costa thought to be on their shopping list.

Cerezo believes his club are in a much different position than they were when they sold Radamel Falcao to Monaco, with the Mattress Makers now challenging both Real Madrid and Barcelona for the La Liga title.

Chelsea were thought to be the prolific strikers first destination due to the fact Atletico’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is on-loan at the club raising speculation that a part exchange deal could take place.

When Speaking about a possible transfer the Atletico president said: “I do not think Diego Costa will leave us at the end of the coming year.

“Unquestionably, we do not want to sell him or use him as a bargaining chip for another player.
