Arsenals Lukas Podolski has become a loan target for Serie A side AS Roma as they prepare to lose former Gunner Gervinho to the African Cup of Nations next month.
Early in the New Year Gervinho is hoping to link up with his Ivory Coast teammates ahead of the tournament in Equatorial Guinea that kicks off on the 17th of January and runs till February 8th.
The tournament was supposed to be held in Morocco but the North African country pulled out citing the Ebola virus outbreak in West Africa as being a major concern.
German international Podolski is thought to be surplus to requirements at the Emirates with German national team coach Joachim Löw saying the 29-year-old need s more playing time if he is to keep his place in the German squad.
Inter Milan’s new manager has also expressed an interest in Podolski so it will be interesting to see if he remains at Arsenal following the January window.
