Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has a history of signing and developing young talent from South America as was the case with Denilson, Wellington Silva and Botelho who all signed for the Gunners.

This time however the Frenchman has lost out on one of Brazil’s hot young talents Lucas Silva who has just joined Real Madrid from Cruzeiro for £9.7 million.

“He [Lucas] is very happy as one of his dreams has come true. Ancelotti has got a real diamond,” Cruzeiro coach Oliveira told AS.

“He is a technical player with good vision, he can make precise 30- or 40-metre passes and has a strong shot. He will push those already in his position.

“He will need to adapt now to a new formation but I am sure he will develop alongside the quality at Real Madrid.”

Check out the video below of the 21-year-old and see if Wenger will kick himself for not signing the player Ancelotti has marked out to replace Toni Kroos.
