Arsenal has been told that they will have to trigger the release clause in Juan Quintero’s contract if they wish to sign him from Porto according to the Daily Express.

The players agent Ricardo Calleri is claiming that so far Porto have received no offers for the Colombian winger, but has indicated that the Portuguese club would sell if the price was right saying: “Porto never talked to negotiate Juan Quintero.

“There are clubs interested, there is much interest in the player, the clubs in Spain and England, but to leave would be one willing to pay the termination clause of the club.”

These comments totally contradict earlier reports that the attacking midfielder was on his way to north London to sign a £16 million deal with Arsenal later this week.

The situation is complicated in part due to the fact that the 21-year-old has third party involvement after Dragons paid £3.7m for 50 per cent of his economic rights in 2013.
