Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger expects to sign Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina this week for £3 million, with the Daily Mirror saying that Wenger thinks the 25-year-old Nice goalkeeper is the right man to put pressure on Wojciech Szczesny.

The Arsenal manager has been involved in long negotiations with Ospina’s advisors, and they are now happy that there player is ready to move to the Emirates after having agreed personal terms.

The deal for the Gunner’s is on paper at least almost perfect with Arsenal getting a bargain signing thanks to Ospina having only one year remaining on his contract with French club Nice and an impressive display for Colombia during this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

Arsenal were considering several other candidates including Cardiff’s David Marshall, Reading’s Alex McCarthy and Espanyol keeper Kiko Casilla, but after having done their homework are happy with the decision to sign Ospina.
