Reports in the press today suggest that Arsenal is to open talks with Barcelona over signing Spanish international winger Pedro.

Pedro has been the subject of consistent transfer talk for some time, and it still will not go away even after he signed a new contract with the Catalan giants that will see him remain at the Nou Camp until 2019.

The problem for the 27-year-old is that he has fallen even further down trainer Luis Enrique’s pecking order since the arrival of Brazilian international Neymar, and Luis Suarez from Liverpool, meaning he now spends more time on the bench than he does on the pitch.

Arsenal will offer Pedro a lifeline according to the Telegraph if he is prepared to move to London and join his friend and former teammate Alexis Sanchez.

Pedro has a huge £110 million buyout clause in his new contract, but Arsenal will not entertain spending anything near that, but what they will offer could go a long way in helping the Catalans desire to sign Paul Pogba a little less painful.

Pedro would be a good fit for Arsenal, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
