Arsenal is reportedly on the verge of signing Colombian international striker Jackson Martinez for £25.4 million, with his current club Porto said to be willing to accept the offer despite it being less than his £29 million release clause.

The 28-year-old Porto striker is wanted by a host of top clubs, but it is Arsenal who is set to land the prolific goal scorer after having watched him score 26 goals in 31 matches for the Portuguese club so far this season.

According to his teammate Ricardo Quaresma who spoke to the Daily Mail last weekend following Porto’s 3-0 win over Sporting Lisbon, Quaresma said he would be a welcome addition.

‘He is at the level of being one of the best strikers in the world.’

‘Jackson has the ability to play at any club in the world in any championship. He is the man who will decide his own future, but he deserves to have the world’s top clubs looking at him.’
