Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is according to the Sunday Mirror set to revive his interest in Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira who he looks upon as a cheaper alternative to bringing Cesc Fabregas back to the Emirates.

The 27-year-old German international suffered a serious knee injury last October that kept him out for most of the season, but his form in training was enough to make Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti start him in last night’s Champions League final against Atletico Madrid in Lisbon Portugal.

German coach Joachim Low is also confident on his fitness naming him to the squad that will play in this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

Khedira who is great friends with Arsenal Mesut Özil only has one year remaining on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu and would be available for around £15 million half the amount they would have to pay for Fabregas.
