Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been paying close attention to Spanish U-21 international  Francisco Alcacer sending scouts to watch the Valencia striker four times last month according to the Daily Mirror.

The 20-year-old striker has risen up through the ranks of his local team and was a prolific scorer in their B team before getting the call to join the senior squad, and has so far scored nine goals in 19 appearances this season including the winner against Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

Alcacer spent last season on loan at Getafe and has represented Spain in every level right up to the U-21’s where he plays currently, and with the Gunners keen to sign a striker this summer the young Spaniard is certainly an exciting prospect and would be much cheaper than current first choice Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.

Valencia meanwhile is also trying to get left-back Juan Bernat to sign a new contract in the hope of scaring off Manchester United.
