Arsenal football club has denied that goalkeeper David Ospina was forced to travel to Spain for treatment after medical staff at the Emirates failed to diagnose a problem.

Reports coming out of Spain carried by METRO suggest that Ospina travelled to Barcelona to sort out a thigh problem after medical staff at Arsenal failed to notice it.

A club spokesman however has denied that it happened, saying Ospina only travelled to Catalonia for a second opinion on the injury which the Gunners has already identified.

‘David Ospina travelled to Spain with our club doctor for a second opinion after we diagnosed him with a thigh strain that would result in him being out for 12 weeks,’ the club confirmed.

‘This is standard practice and our diagnosis was confirmed by the Spanish medical team. He was back playing exactly on the 12 week schedule.’
