Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says that the Gunners can still win the Premiership title, and that their performance against Manchester City on Saturday will show that they have not yet given up.

Despite losing 6-0 away to Chelsea and then only managing a 2-2 draw at home to Swansea City speaking ahead of Saturdays clash against Manchester City Wenger said:

“There is no other priority other than coming first – that is still our target.

“If people say Everton can catch us then we can catch the teams above us. We have not given up believe me. It’s our attitude tomorrow which will show that.”

City beat Arsenal 6-3 back in December at the Etihad, but the Gunners have not lost a game at home in the league since the first day of the season when they lost to Aston Villa about which Wenger added: “We play at the Emirates where we show big strengths and we want to show that again.

“There are plenty of positives to take from the game at the Etihad. But of course we must defend better.

“It will be down to the quality of our collective defending tomorrow. We have to keep going despite our negative results.”

When asked about the comments made earlier in the week by former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes said Arsenal was “a million miles away” from winning the title.

Wenger told Sky Sports: “If six points is a million miles away…I don’t know what the translation of a mile into a point is. People who have managed zero games have opinions and we have to accept that.”

When asked about the recent talk linking Bacary Sagna with Manchester City Wenger said: “I’m confident he will stay, but we will accept his decision and go with it.”
