Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has played down talk that the Gunners are trying to sign Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The 65-year-old Frenchman was replying to journalists questions following Arsenal’s historic 12th FA Cup title win over Aston Villa on Sunday, and while he was more interested in talking about the match reported kept peppering him with questions regarding his summer spending plans.

When asked point blank if the club was in talks to sign Chilean international Arturo Vidal, whose agent was supposedly at Wembley for the match, Wenger was quick to point out that Arsenal were already strong in midfield before saying: “We have good midfielders and at the moment we are not looking at Arturo Vidal.”

In recent weeks the 28-year-old tough-tackling midfielder has been linked with a move away from Turin to either Arsenal or Manchester United.
