The Dutch champions have confirmed that they have received a bid from Tottenham for 24-year-old Toby Alderweireld.

The Belgium defender is also wanted by Liverpool who was hoping to sign both Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen.

Earlier this summer the young Belgium rejected an approach from Norwich after failing to agree personal terms with the canaries.

There is speculation that Spurs boss Andres Villas-Boas is also like Liverpool looking to do a double swoop offering £15 million for the pair.

Spurs and Liverpool are not alone in their interest with Spartak Moscow the latest club to make an offer for Alderweireld.

“We have received an offer,” Overmars told De Telegraaf. “We won’t give any names as we are still in talks.

“But, just like with Norwich City earlier, I expect we can work out a deal with this club.”

Alderweireld has one year left on his contract with the Dutch club Ajax and has expressed a desire to move to the Bundesliga or the Premiership.
