Wesley Sneijder is heading towards the Inter Milan exit door – and the long-term Manchester United target could yet move to AC Milan.

Inter want Sneijder to adjust his weekly salary, believed to be around £200,000 and it has been claimed they won’t play him until he agrees to a pay-cut.

This has unsettled the Holland international, who seems destined to leave Inter sooner rather than later.

Manchester United have a long-standing interest in Sneijder and negotiated a move with Inter back in 2010.

It fell through, though, when Sneijder demanded too much money from United but Sir Alex Ferguson is still keen on him.

Inter tied the 28-year-old to a five-year deal two years ago but the club want to cut costs – with Sneijder their top earner.

An incredible switch to Inter’s bitter rivals AC Milan is now in the pipeline too, with the Rossoneri ready to make a move.

AC Milan believe the presence of Nigel De Jong, a close friend of Sneijder, would tempt the former Real Madrid man to move to them.

But if Inter give the green light for bids in January, United could yet come back in.
