Atletico Madrid’s Slovenian international goalkeeper Jan Oblak is set to replace David De Gea at Old Trafford according to Spanish sports newspaper AS.

Manchester United and Real Madrid are very close to completing a deal for De Gea, and negotiations are expected to ramp-up once Iker Casillas completes a move to Porto.

United have been linked with several keepers to replace the 24-year-old Spanish international with Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris believed to be their number one choice.

AS however says that Louis van Gaal’s first choice is Jan Oblak and that the Red Devils have already approached the club over a transfer and have been told that they must match the 22-year-olds 45€ million release clause in order to sign him.

AS goes on to say that LVG is a big fan of Oblak, and thinks he has the potential to be better than DE Gea.
