Spanish wingback Alberto Moreno scored a tremendous goal against Tottenham in the 3-0 win at White Hart Lane earlier in the season, and is hoping to repeat the feat again tonight at Anfield.

“I remember they were in possession of the ball and I pressured their player and took the ball away from him,” Moreno told Liverpoolfc.com.

“Then I remember I started running from our half and carried the ball on and on towards the goal.

“Suddenly, I realised I had a clear view of the goal in front of me, so then I got nearer the box and took the shot to score.

“The first thing that came into my mind after scoring was to celebrate that goal with the fans. They had gone to London to support us and so they deserved it. That’s why I did what I did as I wanted to dedicate that strike to them.

“It was a special game for me as I scored my first goal in the Premier League and my first goal for Liverpool.

“It helped me a lot to improve my confidence here and also for the fans to know a bit more about myself. It was a beautiful game which I’ll never forget and will always remember.

“Tonight’s game will certainly bring back memories from that match. We’ll have to do our best to win it, which is the most important thing – and it would be even better for me if I scored another goal.”

Following the win at Spurs Liverpool went downhill before finally turning things around having not been beaten in the last eight games while not conceding a goal since New Year’s Day.

Moreno said: “We’ve been having very good games lately, but that was one of the best displays we’ve had this season – winning 3-0 away from home is a magnificent achievement.

“After that game, we had some very hard-fought ones, which we couldn’t get the result we wanted, unfortunately.

“It’s true we are in a very good moment. We have been achieving better results and it’s a shame we couldn’t beat Chelsea in the Capital One Cup. But we have to move forward because we have the FA Cup and the Europa League ahead.

“I think the dressing room is very confident at the moment and there is a good feeling. We have to take advantage of this and keep up the form for the forthcoming games.”
