Porto’s Brazilian right-back Danilo is ready to shun the Premiership in order to join Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old has decided to leave Portugal in the summer to join the European champions for £27 million, despite strong interest from the English top-tier clubs.

Porto had offered the Brazilian international a one-year extension on his current deal while also inserting a £40 million buyout clause, but he said no, preferring to join Los Blanco’s now rather than wait another year.

Liverpool and Manchester United will be disappointed by this news as the Reds had earmarked him as a replacement for Glen Johnson, while United boss Louis van Gaal saw him as the man to take over from Rafael and Antonia Valencia.
