It’s a story that has been doing the rounds for weeks except of course for the usual link between Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp and any present or former player from Borussia Dortmund, and that is that German ace Ilkay Gundogan will be signing for Manchester City in a deal said to be worth £30 million according to the Sun.

The British daily tabloid is claiming that a deal has been done despite claims by Gundogan’s representatives that nothing has yet been agreed upon for their player to join City this summer.

The Suns latest report comes just days after a story in which incoming City manager Pep Guardiola said he wants to have all his summer transfer done and dusted before the European Championships kick-off in France in June.

Add to this photographs of Manchester City director of football Txiki Begiristain meeting the Germany international midfielder’s uncle and agent Ilhan Gundogan in Amsterdam last month published by Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf and you have to believe there may be some truth to the story.

Gundogan is under contract at Dortmund until 2017, and despite Coach Thomas Tuchel trying to get him to commit to a new deal it would appear that City have got their man and that an announcement will be made at the end of the season.
