Arsene Wenger revealed yesterday that he could sign at most, two more players before the transfer window close as he looks to bolster his squad for the new 2014/2015 season.

Already, Wenger, who has signed Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle United, Calum Chambers from Southampton and David Ospina, the goalkeeper from OGC Nice, in France, is still keen on strengthening his side further ahead of the new campaign.

News reports of Sami Khedira and William Carvalho talking to Arsenal saturate the media and it appears at least one of them will be an Arsenal player soon.

The manager also recently gave away the fact that he no longer would bring in an attacker this season, suggesting the fact that he is satisfied with his attacking line-up of Olivier Giroud, Yaya Sanogo, Joel Campbell, Lukas Podolski, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Serge Gnabry, Ryo Miyaichi and new boy Alexis Sanchez.

Reactions are presently trailing these statements as many fans believe that Arsenal is at least 3 to 4 players away from being a serious title contending team.

Proponents of this school of thought believe that another traditional number 9 in the mould of Radamel Falcao or Robert Lewandowski, a defensive midfielder like Sami Khedira, another Centre Back (if Vermaelen leaves) like Mats Hummels and maybe another quality goalkeeper.

This group of people do not see a reason why Arsene cannot go all out to make these kinds of signings.

To them, no real big players have been signed yet because to compete in Europe, players like Chambers may not fit
in well, for at that level, boys don’t play.

On the other side of the divide is a group of optimists that are even satisfied with what the gaffer has done so far this summer by bringing in Debuchy and Ospina, replacements for Sagna and Fabianski, who have moved to Manchester City and Swansea respectively.

Furthermore, they are grateful to have Alexis Sanchez and Calum Chambers join the club to bolster the defence and attack.

To them, we would have won the league last term if not for the seasonal injury plague that took its toll or Arsenal last season.

So, they believe, with Shad Forsythe, the new fitness coach, the injury problem hopefully would be alleviated.

Realistically, Arsenal is poised for a great season judging by the air of confidence and the talents inherent in the squad, but in terms of more additions into the team, one would really have to go with the manager on this one.

With the depth of talent in this squad, more than two additions may be a counterproductive move because there is no how the manager would not want to free up some space for new big name signings.

Players like Santiago Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joel Campbell and other exciting talents would easily lose their places if players like Falcao, Reus and even Balotelli come in.

Arsenal fans need to believe in this crop of players.

Like the manager has said, at most two players; one strong defensive midfielder and maybe another Centre Back, if club captain, Thomas Vermaelen leaves; are needed to make this current crop thick.

Barring no hitch in terms of long term injuries to key players, Arsenal this season would stage a marvellous campaign.
