Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is trying to decide if he should make an offer for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

Dortmund is currently struggling second from bottom in the Bundesliga, and with the Germans contract expiring in 2016 he will be sold if he fails to extend his current deal.

The Daily Star is reporting that Wenger is weighing up a £16 million bid for the 24-year-old who has failed to sign on two previous occasions.

The Gunners boss would like to strengthen in midfield and also has Sporting’s William Carvalho on a short list of players he would like to bring to the Emirates.

While speaking to German newspaper Bild earlier in the week the Dortmund star said: “I’d like to leave the German championship, one day.

“Playing in the Premier League is one of my goals.”

Dortmund will hope they can remain in Germany’s top-flight but must have a better second half of the season if they hope to stay up.
