Normally reliable Turin based newspaper La Stampa, has this morning run a story claiming Manchester United have put a £61.3 million bid for French international midfielder Paul Pogba.

The bid is quite a turn of direction for the club that let their graduate leave to Juventus for free in 2012.

Despite being only 21-years-old Pogba has become a regular player in the Italian Champions team, and is now widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world.

La Stampa claims that United made Juventus an offer of 80€ million on Tuesday while at the same time offering the French youngster a deal worth 9€ million per-year to move back to Old Trafford.

Seems hard to believe that a club who let a player leave for free would pay a record transfer fee to bring him back, still stranger things have happened in the world of football.
