So far this summer the gross spending by clubs in the English Premiership on new signings is expected to reach a record level.

Currently clubs have spent £430 million to acquire new players which is 15% higher than the same point in the transfer window this summer.

Dan Jones a member of the Sports Business Group says:

Figures suggest the gross transfer spending by Premier League clubs in the current transfer window is set to reach a record level.

The current spending total of £430m is 15% higher than at this point last year and Dan Jones, partner in the Sports Business Group, says: “Clubs have already spent over £400m this summer and with several large deals looking close to completion and a number of clubs still expected to do significant business, we will likely see the £500m gross record broken by Tuesday morning.”
