Tottenham have made a £13 million bid for Sassuolo striker Simone Zaza according to the clubs CEO John Carnevali.

The 23-year-old Serie A star has managed nine goals so far for the central Italian side and is looked upon by Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino as the ideal partner for Spurs striker Harry Kane.

Before the start of the season Zaza was co-owned with Juventus before Sassuolo bought out their share with the provision that Juventus has the right to buy him back at the end of this season for £10.8 million.

Tottenham now needs to act fast if they hope to get in before the Old Lady of Italian football decides they want the left-footed player for next season’s campaign.

Tottenham have lodged a £13million transfer bid for Sassuolo striker Simone Zaza, according to the Serie A club’s CEO.

A versatile, left-footed forward, Zaza has managed nine goals in all competitions this season, and is now a target for Mauricio Pochettino as he seeks to provide support for Harry Kane.

The 23-year-old signed permanently for Sassuolo this summer having previously been co-owned by Juventus, but the Serie A leaders have the right to re-purchase him for £10.8million in the close season.

Sassuolo CEO John Carnevali confirmed the north London clubs bid. ‘Tottenham have offered a substantial figure for him, more than Juventus should invest to buy it back,’ he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

‘We have the need and obligation to sell Zaza after this season.

‘There are other requests from abroad for him, but the player will decide what to do.’
