Newcastle have completed the signing of Vurnon Anita from Ajax after the midfielder penned a five-year deal.
Anita has been in the north east for the last few days after the two clubs agree a £6.7million fee and Newcastle have now confirmed the deal has been rubberstamped.
The contract is reported to be worth £10million to the Dutchman, who becomes Alan Pardew’s first high-profile signing of what has been a frustrating summer.
The 23-year-old is best known as a central midfielder, but he can also play in either full-back position and his versatility will be a big bonus for Pardew over the course of the season.
Anita will go straight into the squad that takes on Tottenham this weekend.
