ALEX FERGUSON blasted Jonjo Shelvey for his two-footed lunge on Jonny Evans that saw the Liverpool midfielder sent off.

There’s always one numpty who spoils the day!

Just before the break Shelvey collided with Evans and the United man came off the worse.

The Kop midfielder went in with both feet and ref Mark Halsey had no hesitation in giving him his marching orders.

United boss Fergie said: “It was a clear red card. It was a dangerous attempt for the ball… I don’t think he went for the ball.

“Jonny Evans went for the ball and got the ball and the boy has gone in really dangerously. I don’t think there was any other decision the ref could have given.”

Shelvey and Ferguson exchanged words as he walked off, with Shelvey blaming the United manager for the red card.

Shelvey did say sorry on Twitter before deleting the posts as he also hit out again at Ferguson while apologising.

He tweeted: “I apologise to the fans for getting sent-off but no way was I pulling out of that tackle in a game of that importance. I’m sorry.

“I have also apologised to Sir Alex, just where I come from people don’t grass people up to get someone sent-off.”
