THEO WALCOTT admits he is desperate to stay at Arsenal and sign a new contract.

Theo: I want to stay at Arsenal

The England star is in the final year of his deal but wants to commit his future to the club and boss Arsene Wenger.

Walcott turned down a £75,000-a-week offer from the club in August and Wenger has warned he wants the situation resolved within two months.

Walcott, a target for Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea in the last week of the transfer window, said: “I have always wanted to stay. Hopefully, something can be agreed.

“But it takes time, it is one of these things that is not going to happen overnight. I’ve got to be patient.

“This summer there were other opportunities to go, so if it was about money I would have gone.

“If something isn’t sorted out I will be disappointed, I can’t lie. It would be a shame but you just have to move on and accept it.

“Hopefully, it won’t come to that. I love the club, I love playing for the manager, for the team and we have made some great signings.”

Walcott, 23, will be free to talk to other clubs in January.

He added: “I don’t want to be thinking about that because the week I had in the last week of the transfer market was horrible.”
