Swansea City striker Leroy Lita has joined Championship side Birmingham City on a three-month loan deal.

The former Bristol City and Reading striker failed to make an appearance for Swansea in the Premier League under Michael Laudrup this season.

Lita signed for Swansea for £1.75m in August 2011 but after a promising start he fell out of favour under former manager Brendan Rodgers.

He played 16 times in the top flight last season, scoring two goals against Blackburn Rovers and West Bromwich Albion.

Earlier this month Lita revealed he was likely to leave Swansea during the loan window and a number of clubs are believed to have shown an interest in the 27-year-old.

Lita wrote on Twitter: “Yes I could be moving but maybe after the window.

“I can stay and just get paid but I love playing and that’s what I wanna (sic) do.

“Let’s just get me back to doing what I do best.”
