Sparta Prague target Arsenal midfielder

Sparta Prague is interested in signing hometown hero Tomas Rosicky from Arsenal.

The now 34-year-old midfielder started his career in the Czech Republic with Sparta before joining Borussia Dortmund in 2001 and them moving to north London and Arsenal in 2006.

Rosicky was given a one-year extension to his contract in May, but Sparta majority shareholder Daniel Kretinsky thinks he might prefer to be playing football rather than sitting on the bench and would jump at the chance to sign him.

“I’d love him to come and for it to happen soon,” he told local press in Prague.

“But I don’t want to put uncomfortable pressure on Tomas. It’s up to him, I understand that leaving Arsenal isn’t easy.”
