DAVID SILVA insists tomorrow’s clash at Fulham is vitally important if Manchester City are to retain their title.

Silva Ful of dread

The Spanish playmaker admitted the champions have been poor so far this Premier League campaign.

And he sent a clear message to his team-mates calling on them to shape up following the midweek Capital One Cup KO by Aston Villa.

Silva, 26, said: “The truth is we didn’t play good football, we have to improve, like last year when we started very well.

“We have to get back to that level and to find that we have to work hard to do so as soon as possible.

“We haven’t started as everyone wanted to but we’re still in the fight for the title. The League has just started as has the Champions League.”

Silva also insisted there is no clause in the new five-year contract he has just signed at City that would allow him to join Real Madrid or Barcelona.

He told Cope radio station: “I renewed my contract because I am happy here.

“I hope we will continue to improve and fight for more titles.

“At the moment I am thinking about that, not about the future.

“I’m only thinking about continuing to play, to enjoy and try to win titles.

“There is no clause in my contract allowing me to leave for Madrid or Barcelona.”
