ROBIN VAN PERSIE faces an FA rap after elbowing Yohan Cabaye in the face.

RVP in elbow storm

Toon boss Alan Pardew wants the Dutch ace to be whacked with a three-match ban for violent conduct after the flashpoint in Manchester United’s easy win.

Van Persie was substituted moments later and Pardew said: “He’s looked at Yohan and he’s elbowed him. I think that needs to be looked at, if I’m honest. There is a bit of history here with Van Persie and I don’t know whether he’s got caught up in that.

“I actually thought Yohan wouldn’t have gone down if he hadn’t done something but I hadn’t seen it myself.

“But I’ve obviously seen the replay and it looks like he’s looked at him and put the elbow in.”

The £20million striker has a history of bad blood with Newcastle after becoming involved in a bust-up with Tim Krul at the Emirates last term.

Wayne Rooney avoided a lengthy ban last season after appearing to elbow Wigan’s James McCarthy and, asked if the FA should intervene, Pardew added: “That’s for them to look at, not me.”

Ref Howard Webb took no action against Van Persie but he will be asked by FA chiefs today for his verdict on the incident.
