Liverpool are likely to be without Charlie Adam for Saturday’s home clash with Aston Villa, while Jose Reina also misses out.

Preview: Liverpool vs Aston Villa

Former Blackpool man Adam has been out of the side with a knee injury. He missed the defeat to Newcastle and is likely to remain on the sidelines for the clash with Villa.

Reina is out as he has to serve a three match ban following his sending off in the Newcastle game, while Craig Bellamy will be checked after his return from a calf injury last weekend.

Glen Johnson, Martin Kelly and Daniel Agger have all been receiving treatment after missing last weekend’s defeat to Newcastle with calf, ankle and rib complaints respectively, and all again face late tests.

Aston Villa right-back Alan Hutton is expected to be fit for for the crucial clash. He missed the 4-2 home defeat by Chelsea last weekend with a calf injury, but has made good progress with his recovery this week.

Rookie striker Andreas Weimann, who made his first league start against the Blues, is doubtful with an ankle injury suffered during that game.
