Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to show German international defender Per Mertesacker the exit door at the Emirates now that he has Gabriel Paulista to replace him.
The 30-year-old defender was responsible for one of the goals against Monaco midweek, and it is becoming evident that he just does not have the legs to play a full ninety minutes anymore.
When asked about the rumour of Mertesacker being finished at Arsenal former Gunners defender Martin Keown said: “I think Mertesacker is under pressure.
“It looks like Wenger has the necessary players to replace him.”
