The future of Brazilian star Neymar has taken another twist amid claims from his father that the 21-year-old is ready to stay put at Santos for even longer than first imagined.

The Brazil international is one of the most sought after players on the planet, with the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City and Bayern Munich all interested.

He has continually spoken of a desire to remain at Santos until 2014, when the World Cup is held in his home country, but that has not put off potential suitors.

Bayern Munich were recently linked with an incredible £80m move for him but Neymar Sr. says his son has been offered a new contract to stay with Santos past 2014.

“Santos have now offered us a deal for him to renew his contract, but we will have to wait and talk to them,” he said.

“It is very difficult to see him leaving before 2014 although we will have to think about what is best for him.”
