Newcastle target travelling to club for medical

 

Newcastle United target Borussia Monchengladbach striker Luuk de Jong is according to the BBC on his way to Tyneside for a medical, where he is expected to join the Magpie’s on loan until the end of the season after which time the deal could become permanent.

The Dutch international joined the Bundesliga side foe what is thought to have been £12.6 million after having scored 45 goals in 86 appearances for Holland Eredivisie side FC Twente.

Since moving to Germany the 23-year-old striker has failed to live up to his scoring reputation only fining the back of the net six times.

However, the 23-year-old has found the net just six times in the Bundesliga.

“The striker is currently on his way to Newcastle for medical checks,” his club confirmed on Twitter. 

De Jong could make his debut in Saturday’s Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland at St James Park.
