Mourinho, boss of Real Madrid who face Manchester United in the Champions League last 16, has recorded a video address to mark the launch of the FA’s 150th birthday celebrations in London.

And he says that the passion for the game in England is what is pulling him back to the Premier League.

While manager of Chelsea, Mourinho won two Premier League titles, three League Cups and an FA Cup, the trophy he says “represents the good smell of football”. He was also approached about becoming England boss before Fabio Capello got the job.

Mourinho said: “My memories from English football could not be better.

“In England you feel the real passion for the game. I loved it from the first day to the last.

“I know that one day I will come back because English football means a lot to myself.”

PELE will be the FA’s guest of honour at the inaugural England awards on February 3.
