Morgan slams 'unconvincing' Monreal

Piers Morgan is at it again as he has hit out at Arsenal’s Spanish left back Nacho Monreal.

The Spaniard has been preferred to his English counterpart for Arsenal’s last two Premier League games.

 On the back of the 2-0 win over Palace yesterday, here is what Arsenal’s most vocal and I must say critical fan had to say.

Arsenal’s defence, once again, superb today. Take a bow @13Szczesny13 @Sagnaofficial

@mertesacker #koscielny ..still unconvinced by #monreal — Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) February 2, 2014

 I wonder when Monreal would convince him. I am not saying Monreal is the best left-back

around but he isn’t doing badly for Arsenal.

I know people would be quick to blame him for Southampton’s opening goal against Arsenal in mid-week but after a thorough look at the call, I would rather say it was a foul on him.

If the referee had been more detailed, he should have penalized Fonte for a foul on Monreal.

His performance yesterday was very decent. Between him and Gibbs, I would rather say he is

More solid going forward than defending and that seems to be the lot of most Spanish full-backs.

I believe Arsenal’s left back position is in good hands with Monreal and Gibbs unlike when we had Santos to turn to in the event of Gibbs’ absence.

Gibbs cannot play all the games, neither can Monreal but we can afford to juggle them both and even play both in the same game as the bringing in of the other as was the case in the game against Palace.

 Playing two left backs on the same flank would go a long way in solidifying the left flank. That is a strategy that could employed to see out games and protect slender leads.
