Luka Modric has risked the wrath of his former employers Tottenham by stating Gareth Bale should come join him at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid are reportedly set to test Tottenham's resolve of their main man with a world record bid of £85million.

Bale himself has previously stated he is happy at the club and in no rush to leave, however the allure of the mighty Madrid may be too much.

Modric enjoyed four excellent years at White Hart Lane before leaving last summer. After a slow start Modric settled in well at Real Madrid and he clearly feels Bale would help his new side.

“Bale would fit perfectly, we could really use him. He is the type of player who will help us take a step forward, he would give the team another dimension. His shot, his strength, his speed, his offensive power.”

An incredible 2012-13 campaign saw Bale win all three of the major individual awards in the form of the PFA young and player's player of the year as well as the FWA Football of the Year.

Despite his 21 Premier League goals last season, Bale's best personal return, Spurs narrowly missed out on Champions League football.

The absence of Europe's elite club competition has hardly helped their case, however many feel Bale will stay at White Hart Lane for another year.

Bale in, Ronaldo out?

Whilst Bale has been consistently linked with Real Madrid all summer, many feel if the Welshman joins the Spanish giants then their current superstar will leave.

Cristiano Ronaldo is yet to agree a new contract with the club and has been linked with an emotional return to Manchester United.
