Mexican striker asks Arsenal to take him back

Mexican striker Carlos Vela has been telling anyone who wants to listen this week that he is ready to leave Spanish La Liga side Real Sociedad, even telling Spanish sports radio station MARCA a price that Arsenal could buy him back for after having been with the Gunner between 2005 and 2011

“I’ve always said that I am very happy here and I am very happy but we will have to see if we reach an agreement or not. I have some good options out there and here too.

I like being where I am and for the moment I have no intention of leaving; but if the time comes to leave, I think I’m ready to try other things. I’m more mature, I’ve changed my way of thinking and I’m open to anything”, he declared.

The 25-year-old is not ruling out a move back to the Gunners either: The €30 million is one option, but we are considering other options to see what can and can’t be done. Arsenal could buy me back for €4 million, a million more than Real Sociedad paid.

Now I see things differently and I’m open to the idea of Arsenal or any English club. I think I’m ready to go to another country”.

When you look at how Vela has matured since arriving in Spain after having been given very limited opportunities with Arsenal it could provide a similar situation Chelsea faced when buying back their former player Nemanja Matic from Benfica.

Arsenal could certainly use Vela as a replacement for Nicklas Bendtner, but the question about playing time would still be an issue making it more likely that he will remain with the Basque club.
