Barcelona hero Lionel Messi wants Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero to join him at Barcelona as part of a deal that will get him to sign a new contract with the Catalan giants.
Messi is said to be close to signing at new deal at the Nou Camp, but has asked Barcelona to go out and try and sign his Argentinian teammate Agüero while at the same time offering goalkeeper Jose Manuel Pinto a renewal of his contract.
According to the Daily Mail all this information has come from the well-connected Catalan television station TV3.
Barcelona have not had the kind of season fans have come to expect with no titles or cups on the horizon, which has made Messi and his father Jorge determined to see that the club bring in new talent to ensure that Barcelona remains with the European elite.
Keeping Pinto at the club would be done as a favour to Messi as the two are close friends, even though the goalkeeper has told teammates he expects to be leaving in the summer, and as for Agüero it will be interesting to see how he fits into a team that already has Neymar.
