Forget Hugo Lloris, Petr Cech, Asmir Begovic and Inter Milan’s Samir Handanovic as it is Atletico Madrid shot-stopper Jan Oblak that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has earmarked to take over from David De Gea after putting I some fine performances in La Liga this season including the 0-0 draw with Real Madrid that had Carlo Ancelotti say after the match.

‘They are one of the best teams in the world at defending. Oblak did a great job,’ said Real Madrid boss Ancelotti.

The 22-year-old Slovenian international is destined to get even better and with Victor Valdes as a back-up United will still be strong in the goalkeeping department next season.

The only question now is whether Atletico is willing to sell the man they brought in to replace Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois when he left last summer, and after already paying Benfica £13 million for their new keeper, you know that Diego Simeone will not let him leave on the cheap and possible not at all.
