Manchester United to raid Germany on Deadline Day with £67m swoop

Manchester United is set to make an audacious Deadline Day move by signing former Chelsea winger Kevin De Bruyne from Wolfsburg and Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund according to the Daily Express.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has made qualifying for next seasons Champions League a top priority and thinks getting the Belgium winger and German defender into his squad will go a long way in helping him achieve his ambition.

The Dutchman was not shy when it came to spending the cash last summer signing Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria and securing a loan from Monaco of Colombian striker Radamel Falcao with the Red Devils also having the option to buy El Tigre come the summer.

Van Gaal knows that he still does not have the kind of squad to compete with the big boys of Europe, and intends to buy players now and again next summer.

Top on his winter wish list is Wolfsburg’s Kevin De Bruyne who be the perfect fit in van Gaal’s 4-4-2 formation with the United boss ready to spend £30 million to bring him back to the Premiership.

The second target Mats Hummels, who has been on United’s radar for some time, despite the German clubs reluctance to sell their captain, now they are propping up the Bundesliga following last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.

The Dutchman is hoping that faced with relegation and the fact Hummels will most probably leave in the summer a £37 million take it or leave it offer might be enough for the Westphalia side to cash in now.
