Top-flight Spanish La Liga side Valencia confirmed last night that former Manchester United midfield target Enzo Pérez has joined the club from Benfica in a deal believed to be worth 25€ million.

The Argentinian international was rumoured to be on Louis van Gaal’s list of possible targets, but is now no longer available after signing a four-and-a-half-year deal at the iconic Mestalla Stadium.

A club statement said: “Valencia and Benfica have reached an agreement for the transfer of Enzo Nicolas Perez, on a permanent deal that will be made official on January 2nd, 2015. The move is subject to the player passing a medical.”
