Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata has praised his former manager at Chelsea Rafael Benitez. He believes he played his best football under him at Chelsea.
The new Madrid boss is looking for new signings to bolster his squad and Mata was keen to point to his good stats under Rafa in an interview with Marca.
“I had him at Chelsea and we won the Europa League. It was a great campaign, my best in terms of statistics. Benítez knows how to get the most out of every player and get them performing to their best.”
Mata also revealed his desire to see David de Gea stays at the club but knows that his good friend may have to move on.
“Lots of people ask me about him. He’s a friend and I want him to be happy. He’s currently one of the best goalkeepers in the world.”
