Manchester United LINE-UP for Aston Villa

Everything appears to be going well for Manchester United after victories over Tottenham and Liverpool leave manager Louis van Gaal looking up at Chelsea. Missing for today’s match is Robin van Persie while Chris Smalling is doubtful due to illness.

Predicted Line-Up

Goalkeeper

David De Gea will once more start in nets, with renewed interest in the Spanish press once more linking the 24-year-old with a move to Real Madrid.

Defence

Phil Jones will remain at the back lucky to have escaped a red card against Liverpool after a hard tackle on Adam Lallana where he will partner Marcos Rojo in for the missing Smalling.
Antonio Valencia will remain at right back due to van Gaal having no other options with Daley Blind looking comfortable at left back.

Midfield

Michael Carrick will once more be an integral piece of the puzzle playing defensive midfield, but at 33-year-of age LVG needs to start looking for a replacement sooner rather than later.
Spaniard Juan Mata probably played the best game we have seen him produce since moving to Old Trafford, making him an obvious choice to remain on the right for United.
Marouane Fellaini seems to be getting better by the week and had a very good international break scoring three goals for Belgium including the winner against Israel.
Ander Herrera has struggled since moving to England last summer, but has started in United’s last four wins so we expect to see him also start today.
Former Aston Villa player Ashley Young is now coming into his own for United after finally being given a more attacking role out on the left for the Red Devils.

The former Villa man is starting to rebuild his career at Old Trafford, now he’s being utilised in a more attacking role.

Attack

Wayne Rooney will once more be called to spearhead the United attack in a role we feel suits the team captain the best, yet with Falcao and Van Persie still at the club how long this will continue before LVG tinkers around we will have to wait and see. Hopefully Wayne can show this afternoon why he needs to play up front by scoring a couple of goals.
