Manchester United

Yesterday unfortunately, Manchester United fans got to see for themselves what is wrong with their club,  and that is they played like a disjointed team.

Throughout the ninety minutes Liverpool dictated the pace of the game at Old Trafford, and if not for the work put in by Wayne Rooney and Adnan Januzaj they would have looked much worse.

For the neutral watching though, the biggest stand out point had to be the way Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge worked together with each of them acutely aware of where the other one was.

If you compare the Liverpool duo to Rooney and van Persie there is no comparison with the United pair both doing their own thing.

Following the match the 28-year-old Rooney told MUTV: “It’s one of the worst days I’ve ever had in football.

“It’s hard to take. You have to give Liverpool credit – they played well – but it’s difficult to take.

“Nobody wants to lose, especially in this way, in your own stadium. It’s not nice.”

Other than beating Arsenal early in the season United has now not beaten any of the top nine teams in the league which has to be a reflection on manager David Moyes who took over a team that had just won the Premiership and now finds themselves in seventh place 12 points behind fourth place Manchester City.

All it seems manager David Moyes can do is keep telling everyone how difficult the job is as he did to Sky Sports following the loss.

“The job was always going to be hard,” Moyes said. “Harder? Yes I would say so yes.”

There was an audible noise of decent coming from the crowd after the game yet it looks so far at least as if Moyes will be allowed to buy in the summer and get United back to winning ways.

“Results will always dictate that but I can only tell you what I’ve seen today and the supporters were terrific,” Moyes added.
