Manchester United is worried that they will now have to compete not only with La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona for Valencia centre-back Shkodran Mustafi, but also Bayern Munich according to Spanish sports newspaper AS, who claim that Bayern trainer Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of the 23-year-old and will try and sign him once the transfer window opens in January.

Manchester United tried to sign the German international last summer, but Valencia were not willing to let their star player leave, holding him to his current deal that runs until 2019, while also inserting a £37 million buyout clause into his contract.

Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal has however not given up hope of signing the former Everton defender and thinks that a bid in the region of £22 million could be enough to convince Valencia to sell.
