At the end of last season Southampton defender Luke Shaw was Manchester United’s first summer target with the Red Devils offering £27 million to get him to move to Old Trafford.

Since then however Southampton has been having second thoughts about selling their prized asset and say no decision will be made until a new manager is appointed according to the Daily Express.

Reports coming out of Spain this morning are suggesting that Manchester United’s new manager Louis van Gaal is looking at Barcelona’s Jordi Alba as the perfect replacement for the aging Patrice Evra.

Van Gaal likes the ability of the 25-year-old to run from deep positions and thinks the Spaniard could possibly be a better alternative for the club than Shaw.

Meanwhile Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is deciding who he wants to keep and who will be on the way out of the Nou Camp this summer with no reports yet suggesting Alba will be for sale.
