Liverpool have been told in no uncertain terms that if you want to sign Valencia striker Paco Alcacer it is going to cost you big money after the Spanish club put a £70 million price tag on their star player.

This is despite losing his place in the team’s starting XI coming on as a late substitute in the 3-1 win over Sevilla on Sunday.

Equally at home with both feet the 21-year-old has started 15 matches for Valencia but found himself being substituted six times.

Alcacer’s stock is rising in European football which is why the Spaniards are keen to tie him down on a new contract till 2020 while at the same time putting a gigantic buyout clause on his head.

Speaking about the player, club sporting director Francisco Rufete said: “We still have to nail down a few small things after months of negotiations, but everything seems to indicate that Paco Alcacer will soon become a Valencia player for the next five years, until 2020.”
